Chapman’s Ice Cream - Super Premium Plus

Chapman's, the renowned Canadian ice cream brand, recently launched a new premium line of ice cream flavours (Super Premium Plus). To promote this new product line, Chapman's called upon us to help them achieve their goal of a creating a collection of beautiful images that showcased their product and reflected a premium look.

The purpose of the content was for promoting and advertising their new product line on social media channels, their website, press releases and other various media channels, as well as print for their product catalogue that gets delivered to all major grocery stores and supermarkets. Various flavours of this new product have won People’s Choice Awards for “best in class” as well as quality awards. The photos we created for Chapman’s play a key role in the brands plan to not only look the part but to be taken seriously in the marketplace.

Chapman’s chose a rich darker colour palette with gold accents along with the ingredients to match each of the new flavours. To achieve this look we gathered several surfaces and backgrounds as well as plates, bowls, cones, cone holders, ice cream scoops and other props that helped tell the story of each flavour, we even baked brownies and made our own salted caramel!


Now, ice cream is notoriously difficult to work with, as it tends to melt quickly under studio lights. Chapman's wanted authenticity and one of their requirements was to use their actual product rather than faking it by using mashed potatoes or something similar which is common when shooting ie cream. Another requirement of theirs was no “melty” looking ice cream.

To achieve the requirements of using real ice cream without it looking “melty” we opened all the windows and doors in our studio, allowing the cool air to circulate, bringing the temperature down to 6-8 degrees Celsius. This was a fun challenge for us and it was the first time our team had to wear winter coats and warm clothing for a week straight shooting inside the studio.


The project was a resounding success. Our expert team captured stunning images of Chapman's new line, showcasing the vibrant colours and textures of the different flavours by skillfully utilizing food styling, tasteful set art, and innovative lighting techniques. It's what we do best.  We specialize in producing stunning visual content for food & beverage and consumer product brands and we brought all of our know-how to the table with this one.

The end result of our shoot was a series of unique and bold images, a handful of which can be seen below.  This collaboration is another example of the creativity and resourcefulness that SweetnSpicy offers every client.
